If you want to continue studying, the best place to start is to ask your teacher for advice. If you have a careers advisor at your school or college, they will also be able to help. Think about what you want to do after you finish studying. What qualifications do you need to achieve your goal? It is also a good idea to talk through your plans with fellow students or family members.

Department of Education and Skills
You can also find information about studying in the UK at the Department of Education and Skills website.

The British Council
The British Council around the world can offer advice on applying for further study. You can find out how if there is a British Council in your country and how to contact them at this website. The BC manage the Education UK website which is designed to help students who want to study in the UK.

Career Advice – Taking the next steps in your career

When you are thinking about the career you would like to pursue, there are a few key questions to ask which will help you make your choice.

  • What am I good at? What do I enjoy doing?
  • What do I want to do with my skills?
  • What are the advantages and disadvantages of the careers I am interested in?
  • What is the earning potential of the careers I am interested in?

Talk through your plans with your teachers, family and friends. If you know someone who is already working in your chosen career, discuss your plans with them and get the benefit of their experience.
